KIDS BIRTHDAY Parties & Events
Please understand that we need accurate information about your event to adequately staff the studio and schedule other events before/after yours. If any information changes at any time, contact us right away so we can better serve both you and our other studio guests.
By hosting a birthday or kids’ party at The Mud Room, you agree to the following terms and conditions:
** UPDATES DUE TO COVID PROTOCOLS **
All guests must purchase and complete a project. One or two non-participating adult chaperones are welcome.
Food is not allowed in the studio at this time. Drinks, milkshakes or smoothies in covered containers with straws are welcome.
On the date of your event, if anyone in your group is or has recently been ill please contact the studio immediately. Should the studio become unavailable or you need to cancel your reservation due to COVID-19 or executive orders, we will happily reschedule your event one time to a later date or apply your pre-paid amount to the purchase of any paint-at-home projects within 30 days. If you pre-ordered wood signs or paid for specific projects we will package your items and supplies so you can create your projects at home.
By visiting The Mud Room or making a reservation you voluntarily assume all risks related to exposure to COVID-19.
NUMBER OF GUESTS
• Most Party Packages are available for parties of up to 16 kids (fewer for the Potter’s Wheel) ages 7-15. For other age groups and larger size parties, you may choose an Art a la Carte party.
• Follow the age guidelines for each package type. If any participants are over the age of 15 then regular pricing applies.
• Due to space restrictions, please limit adult helpers to yourself and one other chaperone. We reserve the right to charge $10/person for additional guests beyond this, who are attending but not creating a project. If the studio is at capacity, we may also be required to ask non-participating guests to leave the studio in order to ensure the safety of our guests and allow our staff to best serve those creating projects.
• Story Time is not a “drop-off” party. This package is available for 6-12 kids, and more than 2 parents are welcome. However, due to space restrictions, the TOTAL group size is limited to 16.
• Confirm the final number of guests in your group at least one week in advance so we can prepare for your party.
DEPOSITS
• A $50 deposit is required to guarantee your reservation for any PARTY PACKAGE. It will be deducted from your bill at the party but is non-refundable if you cancel or do not show up. We may not be able to accommodate rescheduling requests received less than 10 days in advance.
• For ART A LA CARTE a reservation fee for each table or the Party Room will guarantee your reservation. Our staff will be happy to assist you in selecting the best option for your group. Reservation fees will not be applied to your pottery or other project purchases. More information about reservation fees can be found here.
FINISHED ITEMS
• You will be responsible for picking up ALL fired projects and distributing them to your guests. Don’t worry… we’ll sort, bag, and label each child’s piece so it’s easy for you! Please do not ask parents to pick up pieces separately.
• Painted Pottery will be ready to pick up in approximately one week; Potter’s Wheel pots and Glass Fusing can take up to two weeks. Wood Signs can be taken home the same day.
• Please pick up projects within 30 days of your pickup due date. Your pickup date will be given to you at checkout.
PHOTOGRAPHY
• Occasionally our staff may take photos of guests and/or their creations. By agreeing to these Terms & Conditions, you also give The Mud Room permission to photograph any attendees at your party or their artwork, and the right to use, publish, reproduce and disseminate any photograph or other likeness of any guests or artwork obtained in connection with your visit to the studio without pay or compensation to you, your child, or any guests attending.
PRICING
• PARTY PACKAGE prices include projects, glazing and firing (if applicable), and use of our semi-private Party Room for up to 16 guests (less for our Wheel Studio - see party package for details).
• For ART A LA CARTE parties, pottery, wood, and glass projects are priced individually. You may reserve a table in our studio for $10-20 or our semi-private Party Room for $50.
• EXTRA STUDIO TIME: Party Packages already include time for refreshments and opening gifts. If you are choosing Art a la Carte and would like to bring refreshments and/or gifts, please rent the Party Room. We also reserve the right to charge an additional $25 Studio Rental fee for each half-hour any party goes beyond the reserved time.
• SALES TAX is not included.
FOOD, DRINKS and GIFTS
• Beverages and gifts are allowed in the Party Room. We have a counter to set gifts aside while the kids are creating. After the creative part is over, refreshments and gifts will be brought to your table.
• All Party Package prices include enough time to use the Party Room for refreshments and opening gifts.
• If you choose the Art a la Carte option, please reserve the Party Room to allow enough space and time for gifts and refreshments.
USE OF STUDIO SPACE
• If your party is scheduled during Open Studio Hours, we will be open to the public for other guests while your event is going on.
• Balloons and themed paper supplies are ok, but large decorations and party games are not. If you bring goody bags please pass them out to the guests as they are leaving. Noisemakers, sticky candy, confetti, and the like are not appropriate in our studio environment.
• Expect to spend about 45-60 minutes painting pottery/wood or making fused glass. The potter’s wheel takes about 1 hour for the whole group. If you choose to open gifts at the studio, that usually takes about 15 minutes. The time for all of this is included in our Party Package prices and built into our time guidelines.
• Actual time needed may vary based on the size of your group and the ages of the guests. Our experienced staff will determine the appropriate amount of time for your group when you request a reservation. Requests for parties longer than these guidelines must be approved by a manager and may incur additional fees.
AFTER-HOURS PARTIES
• Parties may be held outside of our Open Studio hours (or normally available reservation times) if you are expecting 10+ guests.
• Your group’s purchases of pottery, wood, and/or glass projects must total at least $300. This minimum must be reached before any sales tax or reservation fees are applied and does not include gift cards, pottery to go, other services or misc. items.
WOOD SIGNS
• Wood sign paint can stain. Please wear old clothes or bring aprons or smocks if making wood signs. The Mud Room is not responsible for stained clothing or personal items.
