What to paint and how

Pretty Plaid Platter
You can use this design with a combination of any 3 colors, but it works best with light to medium tones. Its so much easier than it looks! (look around)
  1. Slightly dampen your platter with a wet sponge or brush. This will make it easier to smooth out your stripes as you paint them.
  2. Start with your first color (pink #17) and paint several horizontal stripes. The stripes can be different widths and can be spaced however you like. Use long, smooth brush strokes to keep your stripes looking smooth and not choppy. Paint only 1 or 2 coats for each stripe.
  3. Paint horizontal stripes in your second color (green #51). Again, use long, smooth brush strokes and apply only 1 or 2 coats. Leave some white space to paint stripes your next set of stripes.
  4. Rotate your platter and repeat steps 2 through 4 to create the criss-cross pattern of a plaid. Remember, you want to see where the stripes overlap, since this is what makes it look plaid and not striped or checked. Paint only 1 coat (or 2 thin coats) on each stripe so they remain transparent.
  5. Sign and date the back of your platter.

Nana's Little Angels
Turn little hands and feet into angels for your loved ones. This is a perfect gift for grandparents, aunts & uncles, babysitters, or a keepsake for yourself! This design will work best with 1 or 2 children, or with 3 children if 2 of them have similar-sized hands.
  1. Paint 2 coats of white (#66) on a Cookie Plate. Starting with a base coat of white will make it very easy to clean up mistakes, especially when working with small children.
  2. Paint a foot bright blue (#28). Make sure paint is covering the whole foot before pressing it onto the plate. Place the foot on the plate so that the heel is close to the middle, and the toes are at least an inch from the platters edge.
  3. Paint each hand golden yellow (#4). Place each hand so that the heel of the hand is close to the heel of the blue footprint and the fingers are pointing towards the side.
  4. Paint light blue (#27) onto your thumb. Press a thumbprint above the heel of the foot to create the angels head.
  5. Use a liner brush to paint a halo above the head in golden yellow (#4).
  6. Use a pencil to lightly write nanas lil angelsor your own personal messagealong the top of the platter. Remember the pencil will burn away when the plate is fired.
  7. Paint over your pencil marks with black (#70) using a liner brush. If you havent done this before, just ask our staff to give you a personal lesson! Add your childrens names by their hands and feet, too.
  8. Sign and date the back of your platter.
